A warm cup of Metro Mud may soon be just a short walk away for downtown Laramie locals and University of Wyoming students. After more than two decades serving the Casper community, Metro Coffee Company is bringing its signature drinks, fresh food, and creative energy to a brand-new location on Ivinson Avenue—right across the street from the legendary Buckhorn Bar.

For Sean Peverley, co-owner of Metro Coffee Co., this expansion is more than a business move, it’s a homecoming.

“Laramie has always felt like that home away from home to me,” said Peverley. “It’s a place that values creativity, culture, and community—exactly what Metro Coffee Company is all about. We’re excited to bring something familiar, yet fresh, to this amazing town that has given me so much. I’m a third-generation Cowboy, and it’s exciting to finally give something back to the brown and gold.”

Sean’s connection to the city runs deep. A proud alumnus of the University of Wyoming, he spent his formative college years in Laramie—years filled with education, local culture, and a growing appreciation for Wyoming’s tight-knit communities. That same passion is what helped shape the foundation of Metro Coffee Company in Casper: a locally rooted, craft-forward coffee shop that offers more than just a caffeine fix.

Founded in Casper over 20 years ago, Metro has become known for much more than fresh-brewed coffee. Its menu is packed with handcrafted specialty drinks like the fan-favorite Metro Mud, the indulgent Heathen, and the quirky Elvis—a peanut butter, banana, and espresso creation that lives up to its rock-and-roll name. Add in Red Bull drinks, Lawn Dart lemonades, fruit smoothies, and an entire lineup of fresh-baked bagels, breakfast bites, and it’s clear Metro offers something for every taste and time of day.

And that’s exactly what Peverley and his team plan to bring to downtown Laramie.

“Laramie has this incredible craft culture and music scene, and people here really show up for their local businesses,” said Peverley. “We think Metro will feel right at home.”

The Laramie expansion is truly a family affair. Sean’s son and business partner, Carter Peverley, will be relocating to Laramie to help lead daily operations. Carter’s sister, Ashlynn Peverley, who currently serves as General Manager of the Casper locations, will also be deeply involved in the planning and execution of the new shop.

Design and construction planning are already in progress, and while the exact opening date is still being finalized, the team expects to have a clearer timeline in the next three to four months. One thing is certain: the new Metro will reflect the same thoughtful approach that has made its Casper location a community staple.

“My love for brick-and-mortar coffee shops and the craft culture has always driven what we do at Metro,” Sean said. “Going to Laramie feels like a full-circle moment—and we’re ready to bring the Metro experience to the people here.”

With its inviting atmosphere, family leadership, and commitment to community, Metro Coffee Company’s Laramie location promises to be much more than another coffee shop. Serving the locals and students of Laramie is top of the list. Whether it’s fueling early morning study sessions, offering a spot to connect with friends, or serving up a late-afternoon smoothie, Metro is ready to make its mark in a town that already feels like home.
