Trump Endorses Cynthia Lummis For Reelection To Senate

An endorsement from President Donald Trump holds a lot of weight in the Cowboy State, which has supported Trump’s bids for president with a larger margin than any other state for three elections in a row.

On Wednesday night, Trump endorsed U.S. Sen. Cynthia Lummis’ 2026 reelection bid.

“Cynthia is fighting tirelessly to grow the economy, cut taxes and regulations, secure our border, defend our always under siege Second Amendment, strengthen our incredible military/vets and put our great farmers, ranchers, and energy producers first,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. “Senator Cynthia Lummis has my complete and total endorsement for re-election- she will never let you down!”

Lummis’ team confirmed to Cowboy State Daily earlier this month that “she’s gearing up for reelection,” even though the senator has not made an official campaign announcement yet.

Lummis expressed gratitude for Trump’s endorsement in a Wednesday statement.

“Powder River Let ‘R Buck. Thank you, President Trump!” she said. “I will never stop fighting for Wyoming. Its people are proud patriots, freedom maximalists and lovers of liberty. It truly is the last best place on Earth. America First. America Always.”

'Crypto Queen'

Trump also cited Lummis’ work as the first ever chair of the Senate Banking Subcommittee on Digital Assets, and her larger work in the cryptocurrency realm, earning her the moniker the “crypto queen.” On that committee, Lummis has been tasked in the Senate with developing a nationwide regulatory framework for digital assets. A regulatory framework for stable coins and work on the tax code as it relates to digital assets is also on her subcommittee’s agenda.

Lummis will also be working closely with the Trump White House on a strategic bitcoin reserve bill. 

Despite a few rankles with the Wyoming Republican Party, Lummis has enjoyed a relatively high level of popularity during her time in office. Once it became clear President Donald Trump was likely to get the Republican nomination in his bid for reelection, Lummis quickly aligned with him and since that time has consistently supported his efforts.

Trump also endorsed Lummis’ last campaign in 2020.

Candidates endorsed by Trump have experienced a high level of success in Wyoming in the past. Of the nine Wyoming campaigns he’s endorsed since 2018, only one candidate, interim Superintendent of Public Instruction Brian Schroeder, lost their Republican primary bid.

2026 Campaign

By getting Trump’s endorsement early and unofficially announcing her campaign, it will help Lummis clear the field of potential opponents in her race.

The 2026 elections may be well more than a year away, but candidates for statewide positions will likely need to start making serious moves for their campaigns at least by this upcoming summer. Many political insiders do not expect either Lummis or Rep. Harriet Hageman to face a serious challenger in their prospective races. 

Hageman still hasn’t announced whether she’ll run for reelection in the House or governor. Whichever race Hageman chooses to not run in will likely see a flood of candidates, who will need to campaign extensively to separate themselves from another.
