CASPER â Local police report that an argument between family members escalated, leading to a man being shot to death over the weekend.
The Natrona County Coroner Jim Whipps on Monday identified the man who was killed as 47-year-old Jeremiah Wayne Reyes, who died following what police call a âphysical altercationâ at about 5:45 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of 53rd Street.
The Casper Police Department hasnât said whether anyone has been arrested or charged in connection with shooting, or if it could have been self-defense. Calls to the police department for clarification about potential criminal implications and the number of those detained were not returned.
The agency reports Monday that âall individuals at the scene were detainedâ and that âinvestigators and evidence technicians are continuing to collect evidence and process the scene.â
Police report there was an initial 911 call from a âthird partyâ that there was an argument at the residence and a male had gone there to intervene. A second call from within the residence informed 911 dispatchers that Reyes had been shot.
âUpon arrival, officers found an adult male with a gunshot wound,â the report says. âThe male was pronounced dead at the scene.â
An online phone book lists Reyes as a resident of the 53rd Street address.
âWe understand that the nature of this event has a deep effect on our community as a whole,â according to the CPDâs Monday statement. âWe ask for your patience and understanding as we continue to investigate this complex incident.âÂ
