Dear editor,
Has Donald J. Trump truly become king?
Trump has usurped both the law-making and appropriations powers of Congress like kings do.
Trump has installed the legal basis of monarchy (“The King can do no wrong”) by obtaining immunity from criminal prosecution.
Trump trashes freedom of speech in the “deep state” federal civil service at the same time his propaganda chief JD Vance announces he is restoring freedom of speech. Queen Elizabeth famously said that members of Parliament had freedom of speech except to contradict her.
Fortune magazine recently ran an article titled, “Forget quiet luxury: America’s wealthy 1% are adopting a bolder new approach.” (2-23-25) This is exactly the mentality that an aristocratic nobility adopts to support and enable kingship.
The billionaire class are so bold because they can buy their way out of any trouble with non-disclosure agreements (Stormy Daniels) and purchase any candidate they want in an election (Citizens United).
Trump’s co-regent Elon Musk begets large numbers of children to try to find at least one capable of responsibly inheriting his massive wealth and powerful throne.
Sincerely,
Kimball Shinkoskey
