A pair of juveniles are in custody after a crime spree across Rock Springs and Green River, Wyoming, that allegedly included stealing two cars, two hit-and-run crashes and shooting up public and private property with a stolen gun.
A joint statement from the Rock Springs and Green River police departments says the juveniles stole a car in Rock Springs and drove it Green River on Monday after breaking into several other cars. They also took a handgun from one of the cars.
The pair then had their first hit-and-run incident at the intersection of East Teton and Monroe avenues in Green River, damaging a stop sign, the press release states.
After that hit-and-run, police responded to two other calls of shots fired in Green River on West 3rd North Street and Chugwater Drive. Police reported damage to private residential property at both locations, but no one was hurt.
The suspects then drove back to Rock Springs, where they allegedly stole another vehicle and crashed it at the intersection of Dewar and College drive, the release states.
Following the second crash, the suspects attempted to flee the scene on foot but were apprehended and later arrested by police.
Rock Springs Police spokeswoman Elizabeth Coontz told Cowboy State Daily on Wednesday thatthe suspects are in custody and there will be multiple charges stemming from the incidents, but police are still working on the case.
Coontz said because the pair are juveniles, details related to their sex and ages will not be released. She said the cars that were stolen did not belong to the parents of either juvenile and she does not know if the keys to the stolen cars were left inside them.
“It will be a lengthy investigation because there were multiple incidents,” Coontz said.
