Wyoming Delegation Firmly Behind Israel; Gordon Lowers The Flags

Wyoming’s congressional delegation stands firmly behind Israel and its right to defend itself after Hamas’ terrorist attacks on the country over the weekend.

All three leaders took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice their support for the country.

“America stands with Israel, one of our strongest allies,” Sen. Barrasso said on Saturday. “Israel is under heavy attack right now by Hamas and taking action to defend itself and its people”

“Our nation is committed to ensuring Israel has the means necessary to continue to fight against all terrorist threats,” he said.

Sen. Cynthia Lummis concurred with Barrasso stating she was ‘horrified’ to see the terrorist attacks and called Israel the U.S’s “greatest ally.”

“Israel has every right to defend itself against these awful attacks,” she said.

Congresswoman Hageman agreed. 

“Israel must defend her sovereignty,” Hageman said. “I pray for the Israeli families who have already lost loved ones.”

Critical Of Biden

Both Barrasso and Hageman were critical of President Biden for unfreezing $6 billion in Iranian assets in a prisoner swap deal weeks before Saturday’s deadly attacks.

Many believe Iran helped plan the deadly attacks.

“Joe Biden’s payment of $6 billion to Iran last month paved the way for deadly terrorist attacks against Israel today,” Barrasso said on Saturday.

“The callous decision by Joe Biden to give $6 billion to Iran has quickly resulted in the worst terrorist attacks in Israel in over a generation,” Hageman said.

The Biden administration said the president’s decision to unfreeze the money is not related to the terrorist attacks as the funds can only be used for humanitarian purposes.

The president has been under much criticism for saying very little about the attacks. His decision not to cancel a barbecue at the White House on Sunday served to only inflame his critics.

"To the president, turn off the barbecue and speak to the American people to be the leader the world is looking for," Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said Monday morning.

Gordon Lowers Flags

Late Monday afternoon, Gov Mark Gordon announced flags would be flown at half-staff in honor of the lives lost in the attacks.

“Wyoming stands firmly by our ally Israel as she defends her people from the cowardly attacks of Hamas,” Gordon said in a statement. “We vehemently condemn the horrendous actions of these terrorists.”
