A Fort Washakie woman is facing a felony charge for allegedly running over a romantic rival with her vehicle. Â
Marla Jensine Enos, 27, is charged with one count of aggravated assault punishable by up to 10 years in prison if convicted. Her case ascended to the felony-level Fremont County District Court last week. Â
On Aug. 29 at about 5:33 p.m., Lander Police Department Officer Shawn McRae went to the Rock Church in Lander in response to a report of a vehicle crashing into a pedestrian outside the church. Â
LPD Sgt. John Cunningham also went to the scene. Â
There, Cunningham spoke with a 24-year-old woman whose skin was lacerated and scraped. Â
Meanwhile, Enos was âtrying to leaveâ in a silver-colored Ford vehicle, says an evidentiary affidavit filed in the case. Â
The woman with the scrapes rushed up to Cunningham and said the person whoâd crashed into her was trying to get away. Â
Cunningham asked another agent to pull Enos over, and he did, in the churchâs driveway. Â
What Happened?Â
Cunningham asked the alleged victim what happened. She said she and her âbaby-daddy,â whom she also called her ex-boyfriend, took their two toddler-aged children to the church to play since it was the younger childâs second birthday. Â
Enos came up to the party though the woman didnât know Enos, she told Cunningham. Â
The two women started to argue over a man. Â
The affidavit is unclear about the manâs relation to each woman, and Lander Police Department did not return multiple voicemails Friday afternoon requesting clarification, but the man is the ex-boyfriend of at least one of the women. Â
The argument escalated, and Enos ran the younger woman over with her car, the affidavit alleges. Â
âShe Deserved ItâÂ
Enos spoke with a different police officer. She at first told him that the younger woman was hitting the Ford, the affidavit says. Â
But then Enos admitted to running the woman over, allegedly. Â
As an agent escorted Enos to Cunninghamâs patrol truck, the ambulance drove away with the victim in it. Â
Enos asked if the younger woman was in the ambulance. Â
Cunningham said she was. Â
âGood. Iâm glad. She deserved it,â said Enos, the affidavit alleges. Â
Enosâ arraignment is set for Sept. 21. Â
