Alcova Marina Building Burns Down, Officials Asking For Help

Natrona County authorities are investigating an early morning fire which broke out at the Alcova Marina on Tuesday.

No one was reported injured in the blaze at the popular destination and no other structures were damaged, authorities said.

Although officials have not released information on the fire, Sam Marion, the general manager of the Alcova Resort said the building was a total loss on a GoFundMe page he started.

“On July 4th, 2023, early morning, Alcova Resort burnt down leaving the Alcova community devastated,” Marion wrote.

Will Come Back

Later, in a Facebook post, Marion thanked the community for the “outpouring of support” and pledged that the marina would come back.

“The staff and community members are safe, the flag is still flying and we will be back better than ever,” he said. “Happy Fourth of July Alcova.”

Friends of the resort left messages of support and shared memories on the Facebook page .

Independence Day activities were not canceled and fireworks were still scheduled to occur.

Asking For Help

The Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in the investigation of the fire requesting video  and/or photos of the building before emergency personnel arrived on Tuesday morning.

Later in the day, the office admonished visitors who were walking in taped-off locations at the reservoir stating that violators would be cited or arrested.

“If you see tape labeled ‘SHERIFF’S LINE DO NOT CROSS’ please respect the barriers in place, do not cross the tape and cones and do not move or remove them,” the statement read.
