Dear editor,
The following is an open letter to Senator Cynthia Lummis in response to her guest column in today’s Cowboy State Daily. I have emailed her as well.
Dear Senator Lummis,
This is a snippet from your letter in today’s (June 14) Cowboy State Daily:
“We often say that in Wyoming, we don’t use turning signals because it’s none of anyone’s darn business where we are going. When it comes to your personal data, I believe the same sentiment applies and that is why I have become one of the Senate’s most stalwart champions for data privacy.
“The people of Wyoming value their privacy, and they value a government that does not infringe on their rights. True liberty is not possible without privacy and I will continue to be a fierce defender of both in the United States Senate.”
Cynthia, I have the following questions:n
1. Do the people in the other 49 states value their privacy too?
2. Do all Americans value a government that does not infringe on their rights, or is it only Wyoming people?
3. “True liberty is not possible without privacy…”
Cynthia, you are a staunch “pro-life” aka anti-abortion, forced birth defender. You strongly encourage laws to prevent women from obtaining abortions and “abortifacient” contraception [what is that?].
4. Is a person’s body their own? Do they have a “right” to privacy regarding any decisions they make about their body? Yes or no.
Your anti-abortion, anti-contraception stance is an egregious invasion of privacy. Is that not correct?
Please answer these questions, re-examine your position and provide further explanation via another letter to CSD.
Sincerely,
James S. McEvoy D. O.
Powell, Wyoming
