A Gillette woman won an argument with her boyfriend last week by dropping him off at the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, where authorities arrested him on three outstanding warrants. Â
A 27-year-old woman on Feb. 27 was driving her car while her 32-year-old boyfriend, Levi Wazelle, yelled at her, according to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office. Â
Lt. Paul Pownall told Cowboy State Daily that Wazelle was yelling at the woman and would not get out of her car – so she drove him to the sheriff’s office. Â
While the girlfriend met with deputies, Wazelle fled on foot. Â
There were three municipal warrants for his arrest: failure to pay for driving under suspension and driving without insurance or registration, according to the sheriff’s office statement. Â
“He decided to vacate the area as fast as he could,” said Pownall, adding that it didn’t take long for deputies to catch up with Wazelle. Â
Pownall didn’t know for certain if the woman intended for Wazelle to be arrested or if she was simply seeking a safe place.Â
“She probably identified that he had warrants and she was tired of him yelling and screaming at her, so it was kind of a win for everyone,” said Pownall. Â
It would make the deputies’ jobs a lot easier if everyone would simply drop suspects off for them, said Pownall. Â
A week after the incident, Wazelle is no longer in police custody, Pownall said.
