A man found dead near cardboard boxes in downtown Riverton last month died from a case of hypothermia complicating acute and chronic alcohol abuse, the Fremont County Coroner reported Tuesday. Â
Richard Lonebear, 52, of Riverton, was found lying in a parking lot under cardboard boxes the afternoon of Nov. 7. Â
The Riverton Police Department described the region as “an area frequented by local homeless people” and described Lonebear as a “transient.”Â
“There was (sic) no visible signs of trauma or struggle and the fellow may have been trying to stay warm under the boxes,” wrote RPD public information officer Bart Ringer. Â
‘Ethanol’Â
An autopsy was conducted. Â
Lonebear’s blood-alcohol content was .308 grams per 100 milliliters, according to a docket dispatched by the Fremont County Coroner. Â
The legal limit to drive in Wyoming is a blood-alcohol content of .08. Â
Lonebear’s manner of death is accidental, the docket says, adding that the cause is “hypothermia complicating acute and chronic ethanol abuse,” the docket says. Â
Lonebear had no money or property on his person, other than his clothing. Â
