Thinking back to a year ago about my decision to run for the Wyoming House of Representatives, what I consider the biggest motivating factor was providing a better Wyoming for our children.
Recently, I saw the movie “Sound of Freedom.” This film was eye-opening, gut wrenching and motivating.
I walked out of the theater that night pondering what I can do in my elected position to protect our children. I feel I have a responsibility, as most elected officials should, to provide a better and safer environment for our children to grow up in.
It’s my firm belief that the Wyoming Legislature, as well as all of Wyoming, can do more, and it’s my commitment to do so.
A few bills were brought forward this past legislative session and claims were made that these votes, among other things, were infringing upon the liberty and freedom of others. These bills were critical legislation directed at protecting children, and there is a major difference between infringement and protection.
I will always vote to protect Wyoming children.
We live in a world where sexual predators can easily access and deceive our children. This has to be addressed.
The industry of child pornography is growing rapidly. This must be addressed.
Society is pushing for adult and explicit content to be made readily available to children. This needs to be addressed.
As we look forward in the coming months to the upcoming legislative session, I encourage the citizens of Wyoming to step up to the plate when it comes to protecting our children from sexual predators, human traffickers and harmful and explicit content.
If like me you are wondering what you can do, I encourage you to visit the website ourrescue.org to see the content provided for your next step forward. When legislation comes up to address this critical issue, encourage your elected officials to support such measures.
The time to be silent and the time to be idle is behind us. This is something that should not be divisive, but uniting.
Going forward, it is going to be something that I am more cognizant of and more willing to fight for, and I hope you will be to.
Because God’s children are not for sale, especially in Wyoming.
